460th birthday of Galileo Galilei

He is known as the father of modern science and a pioneer in the field of physics, mechanics and astronomy. «And yet it moves!» - 460 years since the birth of Galileo Galilei.

Galileo was the first who explored the movement of a pendulum and described the phenomenon of a resonance. The movement of the pendulum is produced by its oscillations and can be described by the pendulum equation – T = 2π√(L/g). When the pendulum reaches the maximum amplitude of oscillation, the resonance appears.

Galileo’s work in this area laid the foundation for the development of vibration controllers, like those made by RULA, which utilize the principles of pendulum movement in their operations to find resonances and conduct fatigue testing.
